Unity Through Better Understanding |

The 43rd annual retreat was celebrated 18-22 November 2006 in the Bavarian village of Berchtesgaden, Germany at the Hotel Zur Post.
The food, fellowship and scenery were all outstanding! Some visited nearby Salzburg, others journeyed deep in the local salt mines – we all enjoyed the gorgeous atmosphere of Berchtesgaden. The natural surroundings of the retreat proclaimed the presence and glory of our God. |

This year’s retreat realized more transition as Phil and Rebecca Jackson assumed the responsibility of organizing the event.
This retreat has a valued history with the American Military Evangelism Ministry (AMEN), which is a ministry to US armed forces personnel and their families directed by Don Yelton. Don and Harriet Yelton shifted their focus from the German retreat after 2003 since so many US military personnel have been re-located out of Western Europe. The Yeltons are facilitating a similar event in the US which better supports their ministry’s objectives.
Bill McDonough, director of the Christian humanitarian organization, Partners in Progress co-directed this event with Don for many years and recently has shared the burden with Phil land Rebecca. Bill and Marie-Claire McDonough’s work in Southeast Asia has now occupied more of their attention and therefore they have handed the organizational role over to the Jacksons who serve with a retreat advisory committee.
Despite the transition, the retreat’s purpose of supporting those who serve in Europe will prayerfully be pursued. We look forward to sharing this special time with you. |
